Mather Motorsports is pleased to announce the long anticipated debut of the dueling ITB Escort GTs.
Four years ago we picked up an 87 Escort GT with the intention of turning it into an ITB road racer for Diane, who had decided that restoring the one she bought new meant it was now retired from the track.
We found it was true - building a car from scratch costs much, much more than buying a prepped one someone else got tired of building. We also have way too many projects. After 3 long years, the 87 hit the track at Lime Rock late in the year. It came home in one piece and still running.
The next weekend we drove down to Long Island to pick up another one - one that was prepped with a great suspension and had been running with EMRA successfully. To convince Diane that she really needed to add another vehicle to the yard, Tim told her it would be a great idea because he'd be out on the track too, since he didn't want to do wheel-to-wheel with his Sentra either. She bought it: hook, line and sinker.
After Mt. Washington 2001, the two cars were pulled into the driveway and work began. 2 long, hot months later, we're ready to hit the track.
Come see us at Lime Rock Park, September 8, 2001
