Mather Motorsports to compete in the 2000
Mt Washington Climb to the CloudsJune 23-25, 2000
Tim Mather of East Hartford CT will, for the 9th consecutive year, compete in the Mt Washington Climb to the Clouds.
Many of the thrills seen at this competition come from the fact that the Mt. Washington Hillclimb has a rise in vertical elevation of 4,555 feet in a distance of7.4 miles which results in a very steep and undulating course. The Auto Roadcourse not only is a narrow one, but changes between asphalt on 65% to hard packed gravel on 35% of the road. The longest straight is in the upper section and is on hard packed gravel. With boundaries of either large granite boulders or steep drop-offs, there is little room for error. To win the "Climb to the Clouds" you want a fast, well-oiled machine, but you need sharp driving skills.
Tim returns this year with his trusty and reliable 1991 Nissan Sentra, having raced it since purchasing it new. Tim brings a long and impressive list of credentials to the event and has entered the most coopetitive car Mather Motorsports has ever fielded. The car has been lightened considerably and will be powered by freshly rebuilt 1.6 liter engine. This years car is the result of a highly successful collaboration between PMR Performance of Kengsington, CT and Legere Motorsports Development of Pleasant Valley, CT. Also coming aboard to help out is Acceleration Pluss in Wethersfield, CT. This new and up coming performance and accessory shop is hoping that sponsoring Mather Motorsports with give them exposure to a varity of car enthusiasts.
Thus far in competition with the new car, Tim is undefeated in class and has been consistently placing in the top 5 overall in every race entered. These events have varied from ice racing to track racing to hill climbs, demonstrating both the superb preparation of the car and the skill of the driver. This year Tim is hoping for his best finish yet in the Climb to the Clouds.
